I bought a big thing of Gatorade this morning in a 32 oz. styrofoam cup. Now I'm all depressed because I know that cup will never die. I may throw it in the trash, and it will probably find its way to a landfill, but it will never go away. That cup will live longer than me. So will parrots, but that is another story. Really the only way you can make it go away is by putting some glycerine and potassium permanganate and thereby making it spontaneously combust. Or put some gasoline on it, but then it turns into an everburning goo. But the point is, most likely it will last thousands of years. Why don't they just use paper? I don't care if the stupid ice cubes melt. I don't need an insulated cup. I kinda want the ice cubes to melt because I add water to the Gatorade anyway. Processing paper takes some energy, but making styrofoam takes more. When we live in a system that is constantly losing energy, why would we want to do something that takes more effort? That is my excuse for being lazy. I'm doing my part to keep as much free energy in the universe as possible.
What was I talking about? Oh yeah, styrofoam. Why do stupid things last forever, and cool things only last a short time? It's so dumb. Tortoises can live over 250 years. What exactly is a tortoise going to do for 250 years? Eat some lettuce? Walk maybe a few miles? If they had opposable thumbs, they'd probably all buy revolvers and blow their brains out after maybe 50 years tops.
Yeah, I'm just killing time before class. I guess I should go print things now.

Haunted houses are lame. They aren't scary at all. I'm kinda irritated that I paid to go to one. I could have gone to the planetarium 8 times for the price of going to Screams once. You guys, we need to see some Omni movies!

Awwwww, I feel so bad for Boo. We were sitting out in the garage, drinking beers, talking, and whatnot, and all of a sudden we hear this horrible cat noise. It turns out Boo was being chased by a neighbor cat. I took off running after the other cat and it left promptly, and Boo just hid under the car, looking oh so defeated. She didn't want to be touched by anyone. I opened the door and she ran inside but hid under the table for a while. It turned out she got so scared that she pissed herself. No wonder she felt so embarrassed. She still looks beaten. Hopefully she'll cheer up soon. Poor Boo Boo Kitty Fuck.
Anyways, yeah, school is making me sad. Fucking philosophy. Ugh. The fact that a lot of people suffer from a complete inability to reason makes me feel depressed and hopeless.
Oh wells, life in general is cool. I can't wait for tomorrow. Every weekend I have so much fun.

Woohoo, no paper in astrobiology yet! And no organic chem for a little while!!! Yay! I'm going to sleep so much as soon as I am done browsing the internet.
Now for stuff I meant to post earlier...
We are really screwed this November. Did anyone else see the gubernatorial debate? It was ridiculous. I mean, each of them said something dumb at some point or another, and of course Rick Perry constantly sounded like a turd sandwich. And really all the other candidates besides Perry have almost the exact same platform. I'm not sure what Strayhorn's platform is entirely, but it seems kinda like Friedman's or Bell's from what I saw. So my theory is that all the other candidates should join together a la Voltron and battle King Zarkon, I mean Perry. If they don't, they are all doomed to lose, or at least that is what current polls show.
Screw updating more, I got sleep and Nintendo to attend to.

I had dreams about writing reactions last night. I guess that makes sense since that is all I thought about yesterday. The dream was dumb, though, like I kept writing stuff and deciding to simplify it by removing the bond structures. Then I was woken up by cats, which really irritates me, but I can't get mad because they're so goshdarned cute.

HEY PEOPLE, I'M HAPPY AGAIN!!!
No really, like really really really happy!
Mainly because last night was so AWESOME! We rocked out with our cocks out (literally). And the party at Fred's was cool. I didn't see any strippers. It was pretty much a giant sausage fest. More sausage than Oktoberfest, dude. Why am I talking about penises?
It was cool, though. I didn't drink much, but Fred did and got really sick so we spent most of the night monitoring him. But the rest of the stuff we did was, how do you say? ah yes, interesting. Paul pulled out his PA and put his finger through it and told some guy it was his wedding ring. He got the guy to punch it. Then later the guy freaked out and started getting all homophobic and weird about it and was threatening Paul, which was really funny because he was a tiny guy. He probably weighed a good 10-20 lbs. less than me. Paul was trying to convince him it never happened because asking another person to punch you in the crotch is completely illogical. Later Paul and I got completely naked and ran out of the room where we were taking care of Fred. It was like Tim standing in the middle attempting to make himself throw up on the carpet, and Paul and myself standing with our arms around him on either side completely unclothed. Everyone flipped shit (like with a spatula, har har har). Good times, good times! I think we discovered the best strategy for getting people to leave. People are afraid of nudity.
Ok, I should probably get some sleep now because I spent last night on the carpet using one of those insulated pizza bags as a pillow.

I keep forgetting to update.
I've been in school for a month and all I've learned is philosophy majors shouldn't take logic. Or maybe they really need to... a lot of them are fucking stupid (as in no one ever taught them how to think critically, they simply mimic) and like turning everything into something abstract, even something as cut and dry as logic. There is a kid in there who talks about irrelevant topics, and you can hardly even tell what he is saying, not only because he is talking about upper level philosophy that he clearly doesn't understand, but because every other word is a verbal pause, primarily "ummmmmmm". The "every other word" part of that sentence isn't hyperbole. It really is that bad. Eh, whatever, easy grade for me.

| why does UTA hate America? |
[12 Sep 2006|09:48pm] |
So, I thought yesterday went ok, but apparently I was mistaken. Yeah, there was a bunch of 9/11 bullshit all over the internet and the news, but I easily avoided it, and most of it was harmless. Stupid, hackneyed, pathetic (in the emotional sense), but harmless. Then I read today's issue of The Shorthorn to find out that the flag burnings that Rachit mentioned the other day actually happened. You know, it's so hard to have free speech at college, even though the first amendment is supposed to be for everyone. Lord knows back when Students for Sensible Drug Policy used to exist we constantly had problems with student governance booking demonstrations and events. Yet somehow these random students got a flag burning approved. WTF?!? I mean, yes, I agree that they should be allowed to do that, but UTA never lets anyone do anything. Why, of all events, did they allow flag burning?
I suppose I should be more specific. They stood outside of Arlington Hall and lit the flags of Iran and North Korea on fire. At least I think it was Iran and North Korea if I read the article correctly. I'm not really sure why they picked those countries seeing as the Bin Laden family is Saudi, right? And Osama hung out in Afghanistan? Anyways, there are a ton of international students as well as students with families from both of those countries at UTA. Needless to say, a lot of people were/are pissed, and reasonably so. I understand maybe setting up a dartboard made out of a picture of Kim Jong-il, but flag burning isn't cool. Instead of showing hatred for that form of government (which was their alleged goal), it just ends up looking like they hate those countries, their culture, and everyone who lives there. I mean, I don't like where American gov't is right now, and I would gladly torch that GWB cut out that they have at Past and Presents, but I would never burn an American flag. That's like saying you hate America. If you want to protest a political leader, you burn an effigy of them, get it right! And don't do it on 9/11 because then you just look like an ignorant ass who doesn't even know the facts on what happened that day.
Now onto the 9/11 soapbox. Who the fuck still cares? Unless one of your friends or family members was personally affected by it, get over it. (Actually, maybe don't get over it, since maybe there is some kind of conspiracy according to that physics prof at BYU in Project Censored from yesterday's post.) I've probably mentioned the African kids getting raped with machetes and the Chinese people who aren't atheists getting their organs harvested while still alive and without anesthesia before, but I'll mention it again. If you're still all teary-eyed over 9/11 but don't give a fuck about the ridiculous amount of shit happening this very moment around the world, you should be ashamed of yourself. Presumably most of the people who make those TV specials are those kinds of people. Whoever made and acted in that load of tripe WTC movie should also die. If you're so damn caring and sensitive to all the suffering and needless death out there, you wouldn't have wasted money and resources that could have *gasp* actually helped thousands of people who are victims of atrocities on a propaganda film guaranteed to get you awards and good reviews. Bastards. Profiting off of tragedy is lame.

We recorded with Brandon yesterday. I had no idea his studio was inside an airport, more specifically inside a semi truck trailer in a hangar. It got really hot in there toward the end. But it is going to sound awesome once the mixing is all done. We'll have cd's and mp3s on MySpace by the end of the week. Credits are as listed on MySpace, except put me on bass and Fred on guitar for Atlas and Bowser tracks. And add Mike on trombone. I don't know if he is listed on there.
My car stopped working yesterday. I showed up late to the studio because it died while I was driving around lost on the way there. It seems to be a stupid problem, like some sort of electrical short. Nonetheless it is making everything difficult. That's why I am up at school so goshdiddlydarned early. My mom came over before 8 to get me for an 11 AM class. Grrrrrr. I am going to be basically trapped here until at least 7 PM.
Oh, and I am so glad I don't live in a dorm. I stayed at Alex's dorm (against UNT rules) Saturday night. He actually had his room searched by an RA. Well, he wasn't there. Athena (crazy girl), Anthony (cute little gay Asian dude), and I were there. We felt violated. It wasn't cool. Having no privacy and no rights and having to pay more than the standard apartment price doesn't sound worth it.

Ugh, I just puked in the teacher parking lot. And I'll probably puke somewhere else here in a sec. Gawd, technicolor yawns suck.
Sorry I haven't updated in a while. And now that I finally have I decided to talk to you about me being sick. Ha, suckas!
No, really, class is going great (sans orgo chem) and we're booking our tour already. YAAAAAYYYYY! Yipes, gotta go.

Today Liz, Paul, and I went to the zoo. It was really fun. I took about 80 pictures, but I don't want to post them all, so here are some that I think are the cutest/coolest.
( zoophotorama! )
Afterwards we went to the Hoffbrau Steakhouse. It was sooooooooooo good. I ate a ton, then went home and ate dessert. Maybe I should try to do the 72 oz. free steak thing since I could have eaten a lot more than I did and probably not gotten sick. Hmmmmm, no, I think I have to work on my eating speed first.
